I found the humor in Last Jedi to be similar of Ragnarok. There are many scenes where they’re building up emotional tension then … joke. Like how in Ragnarok when Surtur is giving his big speech Thor politely interrupts him because he’s rotating away, then tries to squirm so he can be facing Surtur again and let the monologing continue – then in Last Jedi how Luke reacts to getting his original lightsaber back.
If the two movies didn’t have the same writers, they definitely compared notes.
