Since Fred K. seems to be asleep at his dictionary, I feel compelled to notify you that “good” is an adjective (describes a noun) and “well” is an adverb (describes a verb). Saying “I am good” is not “dumbing it down”, it’s using proper English. Saying “I am doing well” is also proper English”. Improper English is saying “I am well” or “”I am doing good”.
Just sayin’, Mr. Hugo-Winning Editor…
YOU”S DONE DID BE SERVED!
Pfft.
