eBooks can be set up to show the cover when you open it. I worked for a major publisher setting up their backlist as eBooks.

Most publishers set up the books to open to page one, because that’s what people expect. You can choose any marked point in the text. For our non-fiction books we usually opened them to the table of contents.

This was a fascinating podcast to listen to, particularly about the book covers. As an illustrator, it is a subject I’ve been thinking a lot about this past year in considering my future. Carrie’s opinions were thought-provoking.

John, if you haven’t read them yet (or seen the movie) “Scott Pilgrim” seems like a comic series you’d enjoy.

I just read an ebook where the cover art was, um, bad. My review of it will make a mention of it. Cover art matters, even with ebooks, because,as you guys discussed, tells you how much time and effort the publisher is taking for such things.

The covers for In Situ and Cthulhurotica (volume one!), for example, are great examples of the publisher (hi Carrie!) giving a damn.
